What does a CASA volunteer do?

The goal of every Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is to ensure that each child is placed in a safe and loving permanent home.

Volunteers work directly with social workers, the child's and parents' attorneys, doctors, teachers, therapists, foster parents and institutions to ensure that a child's best interest are being meant. There are no special skills to become a CASA volunteer. You only need the desire and the commitment to make a lifelong difference in an abused or neglected child's life. To be a CASA advocate you must be 21 years of age, participate in our comprehensive screening process and training program. You must be willing to give at a minimum a one year commitment, spend 10- 15 hours per month on the child's case and be available to attend court when necessary.

CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, are all ages (but at least 21) and most times have full time jobs. Many also have children of their own.
