You CAN become a CASA Volunteer
Are you a mature responsible adult over the age of 21? Can you talk to people who are having problems? Do you have time to commit? Do you care about children?
If you answered "yes", then you may qualify to be a CASA advocate. CASA advocates come from all walks of life. They have a variety of professional, educational and ethnical backgrounds. No special experience is required. Volunteers are selected on the basis of their objectivity, competence and commitment.
Once accepted, advocates are trained. They learn about courtroom procedures, the social service and juvenile court systems, and the special needs of children who have been abused and/or neglected.
It takes about 10 to 15 hours a month to become an advocate with CASA. It's hard work and very self-gratifying. If you are interested, contact Voices for Children of Carroll County, Inc. at 410-840-2495.
If you do not want to become a CASA advocate but would still like to volunteer some of your time we would be more then happy to speak with you. Other volunteer opportunities include answering phones, typing, filing, attending community events and other ways to support the program and the children we serve.
