What is a CASA?

 Court Appointed Special Advocates
            VOLUNTEERS - No special skills required!

  • Are ordinary, concerned citizens with the desire to do something extraordinary
            and make a difference in the life of a child
  • Come from diverse cultural, professional and educational backgrounds
                    Are not required to have legal or social work experience
  • Be 21 yeas old and a US citizen
  • Must be able to commit to at least one year of service
                and give 10-15 hours a month on the child's case and 
                be available to attend court when necessary
  • Participate in a comprehensive screening process and complete training program
                Receive in-service opportunities and ongoing support
  • Are sworn in by a family-court Master to become an advocate for a child in the court system
